Considered as America’s Poet Laureate, American writer Robert Frost is one of the best of rural New England’s poets. He was best known for his collection New Hampshire and A Witness Tree, both Pulitzer Prize winners.

Early Life of Robert Frost

Robert Lee Frost was born on March 26, 1874 in San Francisco, California. Following the death of his father, his family moved from San Francisco to Massachusetts when he was 11-years-old. He completed his education in New England, attending both Dartmouth College and Harvard University but without graduating.

American Poet, Considered One the 19th Century’s Finest

Emily Dickinson was an American poet, one of the greatest poets in the English language.

Though virtually unknown in her lifetime, along with Walt Whitman, she has been regarded as one of the two quintessential American poets of the 19th century. Dickinson lived a hermetic life. Although she wrote numerous poems, only a handful of them were published during her lifetime, anonymously or probably without her knowledge.

Emily Dickinson

This day, December 10 (1830), Emily Dickinson is born in Amherst, Massachusetts.

She was an American poet, considered one of the greatest poets in the English language.

She spent most of her adult life in her father’s house, in her own corner bedroom. The room contained, among others, a writing table, a dresser, a clock, and pictures on the wall of three writers: George Eliot, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, and Thomas Carlyle.
